Vintage auto (pre-1934) and motorcycles (pre-1948) will compete in an exhibition style beach race at the waters edge at Spicer Avenue, Wildwood. Friday features a pre-party including a car and bike show at the Surfcomber Motel. Saturday gates open at 8 a.m. and will feature vintage auto and motorcycle races from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. with live rock 'n roll all day. Beach entry is at 8:30 a.m. for spectators. A bonfire and beach party will take place on Saturday night from 8 p.m. until midnight, with live rock 'n roll. More beach racing will take place on Sunday with gates opening at 8 a.m., races from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. followed by an award ceremony, beach party and more rock 'n roll music. Low tide on Thursday Oct. 9 is 2:50 pm and you can sail 4 hours before and after low tide depending on wind conditions. The sailing area is the hard pack between high and low tide. Wildwood has been recognized by Blokart sailors as one of the best locations on the East Coast to sail and attracts members from as far as California and Canada each year. New Jersey Lighthouses and select affiliated museums will host a "Lighthouse Challenge of New Jersey" weekend. 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. rain or shine. Visitors will enjoy the opportunity to tour the state and visit participating land-based lighthouses, 2 museums, and 2 life-saving stations over the weekend, as well as help raise funds for continued lighthouse preservation, education and restoration. The Wildwood Crest Recreation Department will host the annual Halloween Eve Trunk-or-Treat family event at 6:30 p.m. The event consists of parents/adults bringing their Halloween-decorated vehicles to the Wildwood Crest Pier parking lot at Heather Road and Ocean Avenue, where they will distribute candy from the trunks of their vehicles to children outfitted for Halloween.
